Now in its 37th season, the Ash Lawn Opera has established a new holiday tradition, with two performances of Gian Carlo Menotti’s perennial holiday favorite, Amahl and the Night Visitors on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014 at The Paramount Theater in downtown Charlottesville.  In English, an hour in length, and at accessible prices, this is an ideal way to introduce families to opera.

Ash Lawn Opera’s production of Amahl and the Night Visitors features principal singers from such prestigious theaters as Washington National Opera, a professional regional orchestra, children from Charlottesville’s Wilson School of Dance choreographed by Juanita Wilson Duquette, and local choristers prepared by Jeremy Thompson, Director of Music at First Presbyterian Church; all conducted by Kate Tamarkin, Music Director of the Charlottesville Symphony at University of Virginia.
