Hamner Theater joins Four County Players for their first Mainstage collaborative production — and what better show on which to collaborate! The winner of the 1938 Pulitzer Prize and one of American theater’s best-known plays, OUR TOWN tells the simple yet profound story of life in the small New Hampshire town of Grover’s Corners. Called “the greatest American play ever written,” OUR TOWN will not only entertain you — it will move you.

OUR TOWN opens May 8, 2015, and runs weekends on the Mainstage through May 24. Friday & Saturday night performances are at 8PM, and Sunday matinees are at 2:30PM. Tickets are $16/adults, $15/seniors & students, and $14/children 12 & under. All Friday performance tickets are only $8 each! Seats are reserved and reservations are highly recommended.

Friday’s After Five – STILL FREE!

Fridays After Five, presented by Bud Light, continues to be Charlottesville’s favorite live concert series. 2015 will be the 28th year of free live music and fun.  The first event will kick off at the nTelos Wireless Pavilion on April 17th and will run each Friday thereafter ending on September 11. Each week volunteers work the concessions on behalf of a variety of local non-profits who share in the proceeds, which raises tens of thousands of dollars to support their work in our community. The spring and summer schedule features local artists of myriad musical styles; there is something for everyone! Unwind Friday evenings at this fabulous and FREE Charlottesville institution.

The 25th annual Discovery Dash — May 9th. The Dash is Virginia’s oldest kids track race for children 3 to 12 and their families and features a dozen races, including quarter-mile, half-mile, and full-mile runs; a sibling race; parent-child relays; and even a scramble for the littlest ones.

The Showdown: Esports Tournament

Federation Gaming announces THE Showdown at John Paul Jones Arena May 9, 2015. An Esports Video Game tournament for amateurs and all members of the community who love gaming. Six Tournaments will be held featuring: Smash Bros Melee, Call of Duty, Madden, Guitar Hero, Hearthstone and a Nascar driving experience. The Showdown will also be featuring several Professional Players who will be there to expo and help gamers of all skill levels improve.

Gamers will be competing for up to $12,000 in prizes, along with other sponsored prizes.

Celebrating 35 years in 2015, the Crozet Arts and Crafts Festival is an award-winning bi-annual event at Claudius Crozet Park in historic Crozet, VA. Nestled at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Crozet is a small community located just minutes from Charlottesville and the University of Virginia. The Spring Festival features over 100 juried Fine Art and Craft Exhibitors in a wide range of media and styles, food and beverages — including Virginia beer and wine, and live entertainment.

Hildegard to Holst, Denmark to Latvia, renaissance polyphony to American folk — Fire will offer another eclectic program of music for a cappella women’s voices.
