My Oscar Picks
My Oscar Picks

OK…I’m not a gambler, but I’m going to go out on a limb and pick who I think will win in the major categories on Sunday night.  If I’m wrong, feel free to laugh at me on Monday!

 Update – let’s see how I did…

Best Picture:

Argo  (Of the nominated films that I saw, this was by far my favorite.  It has also won several other awards this season.

 Score one for me!

Best Actor:

Daniel Day Lewis  (He’s won several other awards this season, and I thought his was a stellar performance)

Yay!  I got it right, but it was a no-brainer!

Best Actress:

Emanuelle Riva  (I’ll admit, I didn’t see any of the films with nominated actresses.  Amour is a foreign film that hardly anyone has seen.  Usually the academy gives out an award to someone from out in left field, and I think this will be the one.)

Winner – Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook)

I heard the Academy is trying for a younger audience.  Ta Da!

Best Supporting Actor:

Tommy Lee Jones  (I think he was amazing in “Lincoln.”)

Winner – Christophe Waltz (Django Unchained)

I’ll admit defeat on this one!

Best Supporting Actress:

Anne Hathaway  (She’s won every other award this season, although I think Sally Field is just as deserving.)

Another no-brainer!

So check back with me Monday and we’ll see how well I did.
