An Eastern Shore Democrat has won a special election for the State Senate, and his party expects to gain control of the State Senate. Delegate Lynwood Lewis edged out Republican Wayne Coleman by 11 votes in a January 7th special election.  A Monday recount by the State Board of Elections showed Lewis picked up two votes since he was declared the winner earlier this month. Lewis will complete the last two years of fellow Democrat Ralph Northam’s term in the state senate. Northam became the Lieutenant Governor January 11th, and he now breaks ties in that chamber. Both the Democats and Republicans continue to have 20 senators. Up until this month, Republican Bill Bolling was the tie-breaker in the senate.
