The State Senate has approved a new ethics bill that focuses on gifts from lobbyists. The limit for a tangible gift from a lobbyist will be $250 per item. A lawmaker will not be prevented from accepting trips and meals. Meanwhile, the House of Delegates (pictured) is debating a separate ethics package.  Mount Vernon Democrat Scott Surovell has a warning about the value of items. He says that can trigger arguments.  Lawmakers have vowed to tighten Virginia’s ethics laws. It’s a response to the recent legal problems of Former Governor Bob McDonnell and his wife.
