House Approves Sunday Hunting

The House of Delegates has approved a bill that allows Sunday hunting. Halifax Delegate James Edmunds was among 27 House members who voted against the measure. Edmunds represents four rural counties and he says the boards of supervisors in those localities sent him resolutions opposing Sunday hunting. Both the delegates who represent parts of Nelson County voted against it. Dickie Bell and Matt Fariss were joined by Augusta Delegate Steve Landes (pictured). Bedford Delegate Kathy Byron joined a majority of House members who endorsed the idea. She was joined by Delegate Rob Bell (R- Albemarle) and David Toscano (D-Charlottesville). Advocates of Sunday hunting say it will help to reduce deer herds. They say deer are nuisance animals for many drivers.
