Virginia won’t have any more elections during this calendar year. Governor McDonnell has set January 21st as the date for a special State Senate election in the area near Dulles Airport. Voters in parts of Loudoun and Fairfax will pick a successor for Democrat Mark Herring, who’s the next Attorney General. The candidates to fill the Herring seat are Republican John Whitbeck, Democrat Jennifer Sexton, and Delegate Joe May. May is campaigning as an Independent for the senate seat. There will also be two special elections on January 7th. One involves the Norfolk area seat in the state senate that Lieutenant Governor-Elect Ralph Northam is vacating. Roanoke voters will elect someone to succeed retiring Delegate Onzlee Ware.
