There will be special elections next month in three different regions of Virginia. Republican House Speaker Bill Howell (pictured) has set August 19th as the date to replace a pair of Democratic delegates who resigned Monday. Voters in parts of Norfolk and Virginia Beach will elect a successor to 76-year-old Algie Howell, who says it was time for him to leave. Those who live in the 48th House District in Arlington will pick the replacement for Bob Brink, who resigned to join the McAuliffe administration. August 19th is also the date for a state senate election in Southwest Virginia. Republican Delegate Ben Chafin of Russell County and Democratic Supervisor Mike Hymes of Tazewell County are competing to replace former Democratic Senator Phil Puckett.
