Should I Have Kept My Mouth Shut?
Should I Have Kept My Mouth Shut?

A young man was waiting on the porch at our house this weekend when we returned home one evening. We thought it was odd that he was just standing there. So we got out of the car and asked how we could help him. The first words out of his mouth were something like “I’m so and so and I am in the neighborhood looking for homes w/children from high school seniors on down.”

Okay, so my first instinct is to throw him off my property. However, after we talked to him for a litle bit it seemed like he was just young and didn’t realize that what he was saying was weird. So, I took it upon myself to tell him that his approach was a little “creepy” and I thought he would get better response if he didn’t start his speech out with the fact that he was looking for children. He was selling books for kids, by the way. My husband told me that I shouldn’t have said that and I started to feel bad b/c I didn’t want to hurt his feelings, but I felt like he should know. He was doing sales and I didn’t think he would sell much w/that approach.

So, did I say the wrong thing? Should I have kept my mouth shut?
